General information

Dhiffushi Island is located in Kaafu Atoll 45 minutes from Velana International Airport in Male'. It is an inhabited island with approximately 1,200 people. Around the island you can see a lot of dolphins, snorkel on rich coral reefs full of colorful fish and turtles. There are also several sand banks nearby, suitable for relaxing or having a romantic sunset dinner.

Bikini beaches

There are a total of three bikini beaches on Dhiffushi Island. North Beach, South Beach and East Beach. On all beaches you will find island swings and loungers. South Beach has its own beach bar and volleyball court. This beach is an ideal place to hang out in the evening with drinks and watch the sunset. East Beach is rather quiet, but you will find a swing in the water and it is great spot to watch the sunrise. North Beach has a Kettle Café and it is where the stingrays are fed in the evening.

Interesting fact: Dhiffushi Island is the first island to witness the sunrise in Maldives.

Excursions

Dhiffushi island offers countless trips and experiences. The island is surrounded by coral reefs, suitable for snorkeling. Here you can see a lot of colorful fish, live corals, turtles, lagoon sharks, different types of rays, sometimes even a beautiful manta ray. There is also a place near the island where you can see a nurse shark. The price for snorkeling starts at $30 per person.

If you like fishing, then Dhiffushi is a perfect place for you. You can catch different types of tuna here, even yellowfin tuna, red snapper, jack fish, wahoo, sailfish and many other types of reef fish. Locals will grill the fish you catch on request. You can fish with fishing rod or, in the Maldivian style, only with a line and bait on a hook. Fishing starts at $30 per person.

There are several sand banks around the island. A sand bank is a small sand island formed at low tide in the middle of the ocean. On the sand bank you can relax, snorkel, have a picnic or the locals will prepare a romantic dinner for you at sunset . The price for a trip to the sand bank starts at $30 per person.

Every evening, near Dhiffushi, dolphins swim in the lagoon to the ocean. It is a good opportunity for a sunset cruise with dolphins. Cost $45 per person.

On the island you can enjoy various water sports such as kayaking, paddle boarding, jet skiing, wake boarding, banana riding and much more.

Dhiffushi Island offers everything you need for a comfortable stay. There are small grocery stores, drugstores, souvenir shops, cafes, restaurants, massage services, a pharmacy, and a health center. You’ll also find sports fields, equipment rentals for water sports, diving centers, and beaches with sun loungers. Although it’s a peaceful and traditional island, its amenities ensure a comfortable holiday.
